Fitting More Powerful Batteries To Pride Celebrity XL8 Mobility Scooter
Question
I am about to replace my 33ah batteries on my Pride Celebrity XL8 Mobility Scooter and would like to fit more powerful batteries but have been told I can only upgrade to 40ah, do you know why?

Hi, I am sure when I was looking for mobility scooter about 20 months ago the XL8 was available with higher rated batteries, I found a dealer then selling my (smaller compact Class3) Celebrity X Sport with batteries higher powered than the 40ah supplied with it when they tweaked it to a 10mph scooter (only for use on private land) I believe this was available on XL8 also.

Hi, Is this not basicaly the same scooter but with new wheels and LED lights, called Colt instead of Celebrity, I heard Colt was the US model name of the UK Celebrity range. Note it comes with 50ah and upgrade to 70ah. Uses 8ah charger, does Celebrity have 5ah charger like my X Sport with 40ah batteries? if so it may need new charger or take longer to charge. Appears illegal 10mph tweeked models hard to find in UK now but plenty in US and China.
