Buying Mobility Scooter Spares

Just like other types of vehicles you can purchase spares for your mobility scooter, as wear and tear over time will require at least some parts needing to be replaced, especially if you are a frequent user of your scooter.

As the battery will often see a fair amount of use it becomes neccessary to purchase a replacement and as the information at Purchasing A New Mobility Scooter Battery and How To Charge A Mobility Scooter Battery explains you can often get a hint as to when you may need to replace the battery of your mobility scooter.

Another part that may need to be renewed is the charger itself as this is something that is seeing plenty of use, although not neccessarily something that you will be renewing all of the time but it may need to be replaced occasionally, especially if you see any damage to it.

As some mobility scooters that are legal for road use have mirrors, these may accidentally become cracked or damaged in some way and not something that you want to be taking a chance on, the importance of having a rear view mirror and ones that are properly positioned is important, if you see obvious damage that you feel could obscure your view and alter your safety then its important to rectify this and replace any danaged mirrors.

You can also purchase the armrest assembly of many mobility scooters, its easy to see how an area of the scooter like the armrest can take its fair share of use and for comfort and stability you may find that this may need replacing after a long time using the same scooter.

There’s also tires and innertubes available, as tires are taking and supporting the weight of the scooter and yourself they will become worn over time and lose some of the tread limiting the traction that they provide.

Depending on the make and model of your mobility scooter, there will be other spares available too.

The important thing to do when ordering spares if you do it online is to double check that they are intended for use with the make and model of your particular scooter, the same applies when visiting mobility shops.

Both online and offline, the representatives and customer support should be able to advise you accordingly to make sure that they provide you with the correct spare part that you need for your mobility scooter.

Just like other vehicles, its important to replace worn parts not only for the smooth and comfortable running of your scooter but also for your own safety too.

Obtaining A Second Hand Mobility Scooter For Free

freeFor some people, getting hold of an affordable mobility scooter can sometimes be a problem, there is the option of buying a second hand one but there is also a chance of being able to get a fully working second hand scooter for free.

Sometimes people can find themselves with a mobility scooter in their posession, either from temporary use for themselves that they no longer require anymore or from a relative who no longer uses their mobility scooter and some people may not be looking for any money for it and take pleasure from being able to pass it onto someone who needs one.

It would probably suprise a lot of people that there are potentially hundreds of mobility scooters sitting in peoples garages and other storage spaces, not being used, just collecting dust and looking for an owner.

Its not suprising that many people will take one for free if they can get one, but often its probably down to the current owner not knowing where to start in order to pass their mobility scooter onto someone else.

A good place to look may be in your local newspaper and classifieds, they often have sections for people giving away posessions and of course keeping your ears open for any potential unused mobility scooters, but also letting your friends, neighbours and relatives know that you are on the lookout for one.

As long as any freebie mobility scooter available to you is in good working order and does not require you to have to start spending a lot to fix something then it can work out pretty nice for you.

Even if you do find one offered for free that maybe just needs a replacement battery for example, thats still a good situation and keeps any cost minimal.

With a bit of luck and making contact with the right person at just the right time you may be able to get your hands on a good working mobility scooter with no cost to you at all.

Mobility Scooter Covers

When your mobility scooter isn’t being used, either when its stationary at your own home or possibly at a friend or relatives property you want a way of protecting your scooter from rain, dust and even possibly heat.

When you arrive at other peoples houses, you may have to leave your scooter outside their front door, and with UK weather being as changeable as it is, your mobility scooter can get caught in a sudden downpour, not something you want to be dealing with afterwards.

But even when its a nice hot summers day, you dont want your scooter reaching a temperature so hot from sitting in the sun that it becomes uncomfortable to touch, so anything that can shade your scooter will come in useful.

Fortunately you can buy scooter storage covers that are usually waterproof, so perfect for keeping your scooter dry but also handy if you need to keep the sun off of it and also for when your scooter is sitting stationary for a few days when not in use, a storage cover can help to keep the dust off it and even prevent minor scratches to the body of it with it being covered and protected against people accidentally knocking against your mobility scooter or something falling against it.

Some storage covers will be designed to be mostly used when your mobility scooter is not in use for a few days, but other lightweight covers are the type that you can drape over it quickly and can be taken with you and also will not take up much room at all.

You will often see covers priced at around £30 and some will be cheaper while others will cost a little more, depending on the type that you want and if you may need a heavy duty cover.

They are usually made to fit various lengths and heights of mobility scooter so you can usually find one that fits yours nicely without it hanging down on the ground or needing to be tucked.

A useful accessory that protects your mobility scooter from most inconveniences.
