As adjustable beds will have various positioning features as well as some having massage options, it’s only natural to want to make the most of those features and once you get used to operating the controller you will find yourself getting used to various settings which are just right for you.

Of course one of the major points of an adjustable bed is that it can provide what a standard bed cant, you can read about some of the benefits of adjustable beds including aiding and improving circulation and you will find the assistance that they provide of great benefit to you.

For some users the use of the adjustable bed will only be at resting and sleeping times but for other users who need to spend more of their time in bed, especially during the day they may require more adjustment throughout the day so they may find themselves using the controls more which leads to more use of the motors which enable the bed to move into various positions.

Also if the bed has massage features then the user may want to make use of those features quite frequently, and why not if the features and options are built in and can benefit the user.

Something to keep in mind though when operating an adjustable bed is that the massage equipped beds are not intended to be used for prolonged periods, meaning that the bed itself and the adjustments of position and height and any other adjustments are fine as they are only using the motors temporarily but the massage feature should not be used continuously.

Over the space of a few hours, you should only use the massaging feature for maybe a third of that time, so basically a couple of hours of the massaging being on is fine during a 6 – 8 hour duration in bed, and if you are in bed longer then you can switch on the massage again say around 4 hours after you last used it, or of course you could break up that time of massage use with half hour or hourly uses over a certain time period.

If you try and use the features constantly then it may shorten the life of the various parts necessary for the functions that you use.

This does not mean that you shouldn’t make use of the features included within the make and model of adjustable bed that you own, just that if you use them sensibly and not constantly that you will most likely extend the life expectancy of your adjustable bed.

Not long ago i saw that someone had been asking if an adjustable bed was right for them, the reason this person was asking was because of a heavier body weight and wasn’t sure if it would be suitable to use an adjustable bed.

The good news is that like many other mobility aids available, adjustable beds are also available to suit a larger person.

A bariatric adjustable bed will provide all of the benefits that a regular adjustable bed will but with the added benefit that they are built to accommodate a larger user.

One of the noticeable differences will be that the bed is wider, because the bed is designed to suit a larger person it will be capable of easily supporting a higher body weight capacity.

Features that you find on a regular adjustable bed wont be left out on a bariatric adjustable bed, you have the control panel allowing you to adjust the bed automatically to a position that suits you best at any time that you need to and providing you with independence if you choose and are able to operate the bed yourself.

The frame is heavy duty and designed to support the user securely and safely without compromising comfort.

As with regular adjustable beds, a bariatric version will also aid in the relief of pressure sores and help in the prevention of pressure sores.

Most important is that a larger individual does not have to sacrifce comfort and relief from their disability and can benefit from a suitable adjustable bed that has been designed specifically for their type of body weight and larger body frame.

One of the extra benefits of an adjustable bed is the availability of different types of mattresses that can be used with many of the models of beds available.

There are pocket sprung, memory foam and pressure reducing mattresses as well as types that can help you to stay cool, as each individual has different needs and requires a product that is best suited to them and the disability that they may have, also the amount of use that a person requires of their adjustable bed, it will determine the best type of mattress for them to use.

If comfort and support is going to be the main focus for you and you dont need to spend extra time in bed then a suitable mattresses that provides this and is suitable for an average amount of use will be a good choice.

But if you need to spend prolonged periods of time in bed then a pressure reducing mattress may be better for you to lower the risk of pressure sores or to provide relief from them.

A memory foam mattress may be your choice if you require the best position overall for your body which can really help to reduce the amount of stiffness and aches that some people can wake up with.

Because people spend a fair amount of their lives in bed, regardless of disabilities or none, it’s always important to find a mattress for your bed that is as suitable for you as possible, and provides support where needed, comfort and one that wont add to any physical problems, it’s really worth trying out different types of mattresses to find the best type for you and to make sure that your sleep time is as good as it can be and contributes to a better feeling you rather than causing you more problems.

Although some people will have circulation problems that are in no way associated with any disability that they may have, it is understood that for a person with disabilities and depending on the degree of their disability and the extent to which their mobiliy is affected there can be resulting circulation problems that arise over time.

With the use of some mobility products an indivudual can improve circulation, some adjustable beds can be fitted with massage options and of course the positioning options available on adjustable beds can help with adjusting blood flow.

Lift chairs can also be fitted with massage options that can really help with improving circulation and also providing relief where a user may have problems getting comfortable.

Any improvement to circulation is welcomed and can help prevent other problems from occuring by regularly benefitting from better blood flow.

Importantly the foam mattress provides comfort for the user and does not sag which is important for the user with the amount of time that they may be positioned in bed.

Foam mattresses of this kind are usually wiped over easily and make cleaning of them a fairly quick and easy process so hygiene and maintenance of the mattress is quite easy.

Some of the mattresses can be helpful in aiding circulation with even weight distribution.

With specialist foam mattresses for adjustable beds the user can experience improved overall comfort, lower risk of circulation and pressure sore problems and experience hygienic and quality rest.

A product that is becoming more and more popular over the years, adjustable beds provide a great solution to people needing assistance when getting into bed, into a comfortable position, when getting out of bed, and being able to rest and to sleep in a comfortable state and for many people also providing some pain relief and aiding a much better sleep and neccessary rest for the person using an adjustable bed.

There is also the benefit of the user being able to acheive a position where they can read comfortably while still experiencing the comfort and support provided by the bed after finding the right position to suit them.

A plus with adjustable beds made for peoples homes is that they tend to blend in quite nicely with surrounding furniture so that the user has a bed that looks like many other beds with the difference that it is adjustable yet stylish and cosy enough too.

While significantly more expensive than a standard bed, you are getting quite a bit more for your money which makes the cost understandable and the difference that they can make to a persons life who suffers with disabilities or simply needs extra support and comfort, possibly because of back problems can make them a worthy investment.

As we know, the avarage person will spend a fair amount of their life in bed, and for a disabled person this time can be increased so it is essential that a person is as comfortable as possible and able to manoeuvre as best as they can to get in and out of bed.

The electronic controls for the beds are made simple enough so that either a carer or the user can easily control the folding actions to acheive a desired and suitable position.

They can of course be used in hospitals, hospices, residential care and even in special needs schools so they come in very useful for many different people with different types of needs.
