Happy Christmas From Mobilityright

Although the snow has been causing problems for some people this year here in the UK i still think that the fact that its going to be a white christmas is quite nice as i cant remember the last time it was a white christmas.

Yet again we are nearing the end of another year so i would like to wish you all a very happy christmas and i hope that you all have a fantastic time during the holiday period.

It’s been great throughout the year to see more people visiting the blog and to read others opinions and advice and i look forward to taking the blog through into 2011 and i hope that you continue to find it a useful resource for mobility related information.

Happy christmas from myself, enjoy yourselves, i hope that you dont experience too many travel related problems and stay safe during this time, look out for each other and take care.

Britains Arctic Return And Mobility Preparedness

With more snow and freezing temperaures expected it is important that you prepare yourself for any journey’s that you have to make, whether local or longer journey’s.

As always, if you dont need to go out then its a good idea not to but there can often be the need to go out for groceries or something else and having someone else go to get your things for you is not always an option.

Using the most suitable mobility aid if you have a choice of them and the option to use a particular one is important, of course this will depend on your own personal circumstances.

Along with the mobility aid that you might be using outside, it should never be underestimated how important it is to be wrapped up well, no matter how short the journey, even if its a 5 minute journey to your local corner shop.

While a mobility scooter or an electric wheelchair doesn’t require scraping ice away like you do with a car, you’re still seated on something that can get a bit cold when its exposed to the cold air.

Whether its snow, ice or a bit of both that your area might experience if the forecast turns out to be correct, we have all recently seen how it doesn’t seem to take much these days for the country to look like its grinding to a halt and whether we just dont cope as well with weather changes now or maybe its how it gets reported on the news is something that i imagine you have your own opinions on.

Although the rest is out of your control, you can do a lot to make sure that you keep yourself safe and avoiding injury and that you return safely back home by the use of the most appropriate mobility products and the most suitable clothing for the conditions.

Wearing High Visibility Clothing While Using Mobility Scooters And Wheelchairs

With it being that time of year again with less daylight, more dangerous weather conditions and as we get closer to christmas some people speeding about like crazy on their quest to get everything sorted for the approaching festivities, it can be more important than ever to make yourself seen.

One of the best ways to do this, without having to spend very much is to purchase an item of high visibility clothing, fortunately the various high visibility clothing items available even come in childrens sizes and you dont necessarily need to go for the yellow colour most seen and worn by everything from builders to people making deliveries.

They can be found in pink, blue, green, red, orange and more colours and even in two tone variations.

There are vests and ones with short and full length arms, jackets, trousers, sweatshirts and bags.

Even if you dont fancy actually wearing any high visibility clothing, you could drape an item of it over the backrest of your mobility scooter or wheelchair or wherever else you choose and prefer to place it.

If it makes you seen and it keeps you safe then its at least worth considering, ideal if you have the type of mobility scooter than can be legally used on the roads, dont give the drivers an excuse to say that they couldn’t see you.

Stay Safe.
