Walking Stick Wrist Straps

When you’re using a walking stick you can sometimes find yourself looking around to place it somewhere for a moment as you deal with things like paying for your shopping or dealing with something else.

The thing is there’s a chance of the walking stick slipping or you not being able to find a place to rest it for a moment and many users prefer to keep theirs as close to them as possible.

A solution to this can be to purchase a walking stick wrist strap, often they will be made of a leather type of material and the one end fits tightly around your walking stick, near the top just underneath the handle, then there’s basically a loop where you can slide your hand through.

They are designed to be loose so you wont have the strap fastened around your wrist but rather its just looped around your wrist and what this enables is the walking stick being able to dangle underneath your wrist and hand as you deal with whatever it is that you may have to do for a moment, then when you’re ready to take hold of your walking stick again its a lot closer to your hand already.

A wrist strap can also prevent you from completely dropping your walking stick, very useful if dropping your walking stick would cause great difficulty for you in trying to pick it up again.

A walking stick wrist strap wont cost you much at all either, with around £6 buying you a decent one and it should last you for quite some time too.

Children’s Wheelchair Clothing And Weather Protection

Just as you can purchase warmers, capes and protection against the weather for adult wheelchair users, so too can you for child wheelchair users too.

Some capes and covers dont have any sleeves to them so they of course are suited to when a child will be pushed in the wheelchair and not operating it themselves but there are also the type that do have sleeves for a child that will be using the wheelchair themselves or simply prefers to have their arms free rather than underneath the cover.

Whether a child needs the use of a warmer or just waterproof protection there are solutions to suit not just the type of weather but the childs own choice of how they want to be covered and these products dont cost that much, with some starting at around £15 for the type of covers that cover from the waist to the feet.

Most fit the child quite snug too so that the cover is not hanging down below their feet or at the sides of the wheelchair.

Using A Wheelchair Umbrella

umbrellaWhile using your wheelchair there’s only so many things that you can hold onto, even if its a powered wheelchair you can only use your hands for as many tasks as they can handle at once.

The thing is that you may need protection from the rain or sun and it’s not really practical to try and hold an umbrella with one hand while trying to use your wheelchair with the other so you need a way of still being able to use an umbrella without having to really think about it.

This is where a wheelchair umbrella is a great solution to this, where there would usually be a normal shaped handle you instead have an attachment that easily fixes to the handle of your wheelchair and can be positioned just how you want it.

So whether you need protection from the rain or just a bit of shade from the glaring sun on a nice summers day you can acheive this easily with a wheelchair umbrella.
