Grab Rails For Bath Time Assistance

There are various different types of bath rails available to aid someone getting in and out of the bath, either alone or with the assistance of another person.

Some can be easily clamped into place and can be adjusted, they can come in metal or plastic and other designs can be fitted to the wall or closer to the taps, it depends on where the user will need the support of the rail the most and so some of the rails are designed to be specifically placed in a particular area on or close to the bath.

They can also come with suction cups attached to make repositioning of the rail quite easy.

Even for an able bodied individual it can be a little dangerous at times when stepping into or stepping out of a bath and its quite easy to slip and fall, so in general a bath rail can give a safer and secure feeling to just about anyone when getting in and out of a bath.

Where a person does have a disability and does require the need of a rail, it can provide support for an individual who is quite independant and prefers to do things for themselves and may prefer to not have the assistance of another person while using a bath but at the same time they have that confidence that the bath rail is there when they most need it.

Adjustable Beds Providing Needed Assistance

A product that is becoming more and more popular over the years, adjustable beds provide a great solution to people needing assistance when getting into bed, into a comfortable position, when getting out of bed, and being able to rest and to sleep in a comfortable state and for many people also providing some pain relief and aiding a much better sleep and neccessary rest for the person using an adjustable bed.

There is also the benefit of the user being able to acheive a position where they can read comfortably while still experiencing the comfort and support provided by the bed after finding the right position to suit them.

A plus with adjustable beds made for peoples homes is that they tend to blend in quite nicely with surrounding furniture so that the user has a bed that looks like many other beds with the difference that it is adjustable yet stylish and cosy enough too.

While significantly more expensive than a standard bed, you are getting quite a bit more for your money which makes the cost understandable and the difference that they can make to a persons life who suffers with disabilities or simply needs extra support and comfort, possibly because of back problems can make them a worthy investment.

As we know, the avarage person will spend a fair amount of their life in bed, and for a disabled person this time can be increased so it is essential that a person is as comfortable as possible and able to manoeuvre as best as they can to get in and out of bed.

The electronic controls for the beds are made simple enough so that either a carer or the user can easily control the folding actions to acheive a desired and suitable position.

They can of course be used in hospitals, hospices, residential care and even in special needs schools so they come in very useful for many different people with different types of needs.

Walking Sticks

One of the more simple looking mobility products but not to be thought any less of is the walking stick, having been around in various lengths and under various names through history and throughout different parts of the world they serve a purpose to provide support and balance where otherwise an individual may be unsteady.

Todays walking sticks can be quite simple looking or really quite fancy indeed and for some people they may not be so relied upon and are carried as an aid should the person feel the need to use the stick.

But for someone who does rely on a walking stick more, they can make a difference to the persons ability to not only move around both outside and within their home but can also be useful for helping a person to take themself from a seated position to a standing position.

If a walking stick is neccessary then it is important that the stick is of the right type and weight to suit the persons situation so that it provides assistance and does not become an effort in anyway for the person to use or carry.

There are many different types of walking sticks available, from adjustable and folding to orthopaedic sticks and additions and spares can be purchased for the sticks, like wrist straps, anti slip grips and other accessories.

A mobility product that appears to have been around for a very long time and will most likely be around for a long time to come, and something that requires little change to design because they seem to serve their purpose so well to the many people who require the use of a walking stick.
